Since our first investment in Russia in 1996 under the name Vostok Nafta, we have actively sought out risky – but sound – bets in emerging sectors and regions. With roots in resources and agriculture, we then went on to diversify into the early consumer internet, supporting companies that evolved into Avito, one of our most successful investments, and Tinkoff Bank.
In 2007, we shifted our focus to private high-growth technology companies. We floated on the Nasdaq OMX, enabling retail investors to access early stage high growth companies through a listed vehicle. In 2015 we changed our name to Vostok New Ventures to better reflect what we do today. Although we began in just one corner Europe, our ambitions are now global.
